Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto (SMBB) Chair, University of Karachi established on 12th November 2008. It is a Research and Development Center developed in the honor of the martyred Prime Minister, who was also the Muslim world’s first elected woman leader. Setting up of the Chair is a way to pay rich tributes to Ms. Bhutto’s vision, mission and numerous services for the Socio-Political Development of the country, region and the world.
Strengthening SMBB Chair through institutional development & infrastructural setup, Developing a Resource Center on paper/digital material relevant to the Chair, Conduct research assignments and develop advocacy plan based on a variety of themes, Organizing youth trainings, conferences, seminars, promotional talk shows on BB’s life and philosophy, Developing national, regional & global linkages, Bringing out annual publications
Shaheed Benazir Bhutto’s vision and mission was to promote Peace, Good Governance, Democracy and Socio-Economic Development. She stood for the social and economic transformation of the down-trodden and underprivileged section of the society by providing them umpteen opportunities to considerably decrease unemployment and make the country economically strong. She wanted to see Pakistan as one of the progressive and prosperous nations of the world. The vision and mission of the Chair is to promote the ideas of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto.
